Welcome to the South Redford School District. We know that the choice of where to send your children for their education is one of the most important decisions you are asked to make as a parent. As someone who has been a part of the South Redford School District for over 20 years, I can tell you that you are making an excellent decision by sending your children here.

Our 2020 graduating class was recognized for earning well over $2 million in scholarships, and the class of 2020 had one of the highest graduation rates in the history of Thurston High School.  We are excited to continue our tradition of excellence with our Class of 2036 entering preschool this fall!

South Redford offers a wide range of opportunities for innovative learning at all grade levels. Our quality education begins with a tuition free full-time preschool program. The “Success for All” reading program in preschool through 5th grade provides reading instruction targeted to each child’s needs and has proven results for increasing reading proficiency. Classrooms in each school provide an innovative setting for personalized targeted instruction as well as collaborative learning. The district’s state-of-the-art technology, featuring Chromebooks, and hands-on experience with 3-D printers, maker spaces, and robotics clubs, supports our students opportunity for a top-notch STEM education.

South Redford’s Eagles Scholars Program, which is for high-achieving students in grades 6-12, is our innovative and bold response to the demand for rigorous academic programs that guarantee preparation for success at the university level. We offer a broad scope of advanced placement courses to allow students the opportunity to earn college credit.

Our SOAR Academic Institute is a blended online learning program with mentoring for students in grades 6-12 who benefit through participation in an alternate learning setting.

Our Enrichment Programs in band, choir, theater, culinary arts, visual arts, media production, forensics, robotics, and more, as well as numerous sports and extra-curricular programs, allow students to choose from a variety of classes and activities to pursue their areas of interest. Additionally, South Redford’s special partnerships with businesses and the community provide mentoring and other wonderful opportunities for our students.

At South Redford School District, our Mission Statement is “Together We Learn Through Innovative Opportunities and Strong Relationships.” Our dedicated teaching staff, administrators and support staff fulfill this mission on a daily basis with the children you entrust to us for their education.
